Moving into a new home can be an exciting but also daunting time. If it’s a brand new home you’ll have lots of decorating decisions to make. But even if it is an older home, you’ll still want to redecorate to add a touch of your own personal styles.
Any easy and relatively inexpensive way to quickly add some style and personality is to change your curtains, blinds or whatever kind of window coverings are currently installed.
If you have never been curtain shopping before it may seem a little overwhelming. There are so many different styles, fabrics and colours to choose from! Before you immerse yourself in browsing the curtain stores think about what kind of look you want for each particular room.
If you want curtains for a library or den you may need some darker, heavy curtains such as velvet or brocade. But for a kitchen or family room a lighter shade such as cream curtains might work best.
A great way to see what kinds of curtains are available before you leave the house is to browse curtain stores online. There are dozens of online stores including Amazon and eBay where you can get an idea of what types of curtain fabrics, colours and styles are in the stores this season.
If your budget is tight, there are plenty of readymade curtains for sale at discount curtain stores or home and hardware stores. Shop around; there is always a bargain to be had! Readymade curtains come in standard sizes, so if you have an unusual shaped window you may have to pay a bit extra for a custom made curtain.
